Obituary

Edythe J. Stearns of East Concord, NY died Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville at the age of 80.

She was born December 1, 1938 in Buffalo, NY a daughter of the late Oscar and Edith (Hazen) Gortzig. She was a homemaker and member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Springville. She enjoyed gardening and had volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 30 years where she served the Springville community.

Her husband, Roger Stearns, who she married on January 6, 1962 in Buffalo, passed away on August 22, 2005.

She is survived by her sons: Tim (Teri) Stearns and Dave (Gayle) Stearns both of East Concord; three grandchildren: Shannon, Cole and Alyssa; also survived by her sister-in-law: Jean Gortzig of Ithaca along with two nephews.

Edythe is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers - Robert and Carl Gortzig.

There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 591 E. Main St., Springville or to Meals on Wheels for WNY, 100 James E. Casey Dr., Buffalo, NY 14206.
