Ruth M. Stanford, formerly of Buffalo and Cheektowaga, NY died Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville at the age of 89.
She was born September 30, 1928 in Buffalo, NY a daughter of the late Bernard and Margaret (nee Gilliece) Murray. She was a graduate of Kensington High School in Buffalo and was a founding member of the St. Aloysius Gonzaga Roman Catholic Church in Cheektowaga. She enjoyed skiing at Kissing Bridge and was a member of the Concord Ski Club. She was also a member of the Ladies Dental Guild.
Ruth was a librarian for Canisius College and University at Buffalo's Medical and Dental Library.
Her husband, Dr. Edgar Stanford who she married June 26, 1948 at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church, passed away January 16, 2003.
She is survived by her children: Dr. Timothy (Karen) Stanford of Springville, Martin (Suzette) Stanford of Williamsville; her brother: Paul Murray of Williamsville; also survived by 12 grandchildren: Thomas, Daniel, Darren, Natalia, Ekaterina, Sarah, Samantha, Nicholas, Jack, Margaret, Ian and Martin; seven great-grandchildren: Adelaide, Marla, Greta, Caroline, August, Shane, and Jaxon; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her children: Deborah Aldridge and Gary Stanford; her brothers: Donald and William Murray.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 10 AM at the St. Aloysius Gonzaga Roman Catholic Church, 157 Cleveland Drive, Buffalo, NY 14215. Rev. Peter Popadick will officiate. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
