Clarinda Josephine Scharf (Scott) of Springville, NY, passed into eternity with God on Sunday, April 22, 2018.
Clare was born on January 11, 1931 in Sandusky, NY, the daughter of Elizabeth (George Scott, deceased) and Ernest Lindsley. Clare is survived by her husband of 60 years Keith Scharf; children: Brian (Susan) Scharf, Lois (late Lance) Scharf-Newman and Robert Scharf all of Springville; brother Walt (Leona) Lindsley of Belfast; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Clare and her husband were avid campers and together they explored our country from Maine to Alaska as well as many trips to Clare's beloved Cape Cod. She worked in the art department of the Springville Penny Saver for many years, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Springville, for over 60 years where she sang in the choir, was a member of Forum, taught Sunday School and served on the Missions Committee. Clare was a loving wife, a caring and funny mother, a grandma who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a faithful servant of God, a devoted friend and a talented baker of pies and cakes.
Throughout her life, Clare was a care-giver to those around her. She was a woman of pure faith in God and was devoted to praying for others. She loved music and attended concerts by Elvis Presley, Andy Williams and Liza Minelli.
There will be a memorial service in honor of Clare on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11 o'clock at the First United Methodist Church, 474 E. Main St., Springville, NY. Flowers will be gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association, 2805 Wehrle Dr., Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221.
