Florence Irene Proper Richards, age 86, a long-time residence of Titusville, PA, died peacefully Saturday, February 10, 2018.

Mrs. Richards was born June 22, 1931 in Southwest Township, Warren County, PA, a daughter of the late Edward Proper and Rozetta (Ongley) Proper (Maynard). She married Donald Richards October 18, 1948 in Reno, Nevada. He died April 18, 1980. She never remarried.

Mrs. Richards was a housewife who enjoyed growing flowers, doing WORD puzzles, taking care of her grandchildren, and watching TV. She loved her family and living in her little house.

Mrs. Richards is survived by three sons: Harley, Renny, and Jerry (PA); two daughters, Marcella Stockin (NY), and Mary Lou Baugh (HI); 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, three brothers (Edward, Donald, and Claude Proper); two sisters, Effie Rebecca “Peg” (Proper) Yochum and Betty Jane (Proper) (Rumzie) (Sutton) Kelly; two daughters, Marilyn Richards and Myrtle Richards (Tolbert) Hassell; a son, Rickey; and a grandson Rex Allen Richards.

Relatives and friends will be received Saturday on February 17, 2018 from 9 to 11 at the Garrett Funeral Home, Inc. (203 East Main Street, Titusville, PA), followed by the funeral services at 11:00 a.m., same location.

Interment will be in the Jerusalem Corners Cemetery in Pleasantville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the West Valley Volunteer Hose Company, Inc. (9091 Rt. 240, West Valley, NY 14171), or to the Christian Youth Corps, Inc. (9579 Main Street, Machias, New York 14101).
