Helen R. Shearer, of Springville, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2018 at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital at the age of 95.
She was born January 18, 1922 in Ligonier, PA - a daughter to the late Allyn K. and Elsie S. (nee Scott) Renwick. Helen obtained a Master's degree from the University of Rochester Eastman School of Music.
She worked as a payroll clerk for Bertrand Chaffee Hospital and was instrumental in establishing the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital Retiries Association in Springville as well as being a bookkeeper and computer data processor for Concord Medical, also in Springville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served as the church's librarian, and was a member of Monday Club. Helen along with her friends enjoyed two wonderful trips to Europe. Her faith was very important to her, and she also enjoyed her home and gardening.
Helen is survived by her daughter: Mary (Steven) Dyviniak; her extended family: Harold (Myrna) Woodworth; Donald (June) Shearer; Irene Lockwood; Betsy Shearer; two grandchildren: Christie (Wes) Welsby and Mill (Jill) Lockwood; and four great-grandchildren: Annie, Madeleine; Owen and Jacob, who referred to her as "GG."
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: James R. Shearer; two step-children: Shirley and Wallace Woodworth, four sisters and a brother.
There will be no calling hours. A service will be held at a later date in the Spring, all are welcome to attend.
